OVERVIEW

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a transformative initiative launched by the Government of India in 2014, aimed at promoting sustainable development in rural areas through the active involvement of higher educational institutions. The program seeks to harness the knowledge and expertise of universities and colleges to address the unique challenges faced by rural communities, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

AIMS OF UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN:

  1. Empower Rural Communities: UBA aims to empower rural populations by involving them in the development process, ensuring that their voices and needs are prioritized in decision-making.
  2. Promote Sustainable Development: The initiative focuses on implementing sustainable practices that enhance the quality of life in rural areas while preserving local resources and ecosystems.
  3. Bridge Urban-Rural Divide: By facilitating collaboration between educational institutions and rural communities, UBA aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas, ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities.

OBJECTIVES OF UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN:

  1. Community Engagement: Encourage universities and colleges to actively engage with nearby villages, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual support.
  2. Identification of Challenges: Facilitate the identification of specific socio-economic challenges faced by rural communities, including issues related to health, education, sanitation, agriculture, and infrastructure.
  3. Research and Innovation: Promote research initiatives that focus on developing innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of rural populations, leveraging academic expertise for practical applications.
  4. Capacity Building: Enhance the skills and capabilities of local communities through training programs, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives led by educational institutions.
  5. Implementation of Solutions: Support the implementation of viable solutions developed through research and community engagement, ensuring that they are sustainable and culturally appropriate.
  6. Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the impact of interventions on rural development, enabling continuous improvement and adaptation of strategies.
