OVERVIEW

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is a transformative initiative launched by the Government of India in 2014, aimed at promoting sustainable development in rural areas through the active involvement of higher educational institutions. The program seeks to harness the knowledge and expertise of universities and colleges to address the unique challenges faced by rural communities, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

AIMS OF UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN:

  1. Empower Rural Communities: UBA aims to empower rural populations by involving them in the development process, ensuring that their voices and needs are prioritized in decision-making.
  2. Promote Sustainable Development: The initiative focuses on implementing sustainable practices that enhance the quality of life in rural areas while preserving local resources and ecosystems.
  3. Bridge Urban-Rural Divide: By facilitating collaboration between educational institutions and rural communities, UBA aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas, ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities.

OBJECTIVES OF UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN:

  2. Identification of Challenges: Facilitate the identification of specific socio-economic challenges faced by rural communities, including issues related to health, education, sanitation, agriculture, and infrastructure.

  4. Capacity Building: Enhance the skills and capabilities of local communities through training programs, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives led by educational institutions.

  • Village Adoption: Educational institutions are encouraged to adopt nearby villages as part of their outreach efforts, fostering long-term relationships that facilitate sustained development.
  • Collaborative Projects: UBA promotes collaborative projects between students, faculty, and community members to address specific challenges identified in the adopted villages.
  • Interdisciplinary Approach: The initiative emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, encouraging collaboration across various fields such as engineering, social sciences, health sciences, and environmental studies.
